Rice Corpse

RICE屎CORPSE

ABOUT

Rice屎Corpse formed during Lucas Abela’s Asialink residency in Beijing. The name comes from the Chinese character for shit, assembled from the characters for corpse & rice. Abela arrived imagining a trio of glass, drums & piano, then recruited drummer Yang Yang of Mafeisan & saxophonist Li Zenghui, who joined the project as pianist.

The group jammed four times, recorded two sessions & completed a ten-city tour of China. Those recordings became their only album, Mrs Rice. After returning from China, Lucas reformed Rice Corpse in Sydney with Stu Olsen & Peter Kostic, later appearing at Vivid Festival in a program curated by Lou Reed.
