Granpa Abela – Audience Curated – 7” series

After twenty years of leaving documentation of my improvised performances to chance, I’ve pulled a full 360, now I not only record every set, I also capture discrete stems of all six stereo parallel chains. My plan was to mix and master them myself with the idea of producing a live album. However, due to my impatient nature and inability to concentrate, coupled with a severe distrust in my own judgement, I decided instead to upload them all to bandcamp and ask you my audience to mix/master them down into your favourite four/four and half minute bits to be released as a series of 7” singles.

When I say mix, I’ll leave that to your imagination as I like the idea of subverting what exactly is a live recording. So, feel free to mix down or totally remove stems, cut bits out and even move stems around within the timeline. All I ask is that all sounds come from a single performance and that you don’t add additional material or processing. Essentially, I’m hoping you can distil the essence of a performances for the single format.

You can get involved in two ways. Either as a contributor, or as a label [get in touch if interested], where you can select tracks submitted by contributors or if preferred scour the available material and mix and master tracks yourself. My favourites will become spilt releases between my label dualpLOVER and partner labels a series 7” singles, limited to 200 copies, that are sold at my shows or online through partner labels and will not be made available digitally or through streaming.
