Justice Yeldham performing amplified glass

JUSTICE YELDHAM

ABOUT

Justice Yeldham is Lucas Abela’s amplified-glass practice as it existed before Granpa’s modular transformation. Beginning in 2003, the project used contact microphones, effects & the performer’s mouth to turn discarded panes of glass into an ecstatic free-noise instrument.

The physical spectacle often dominated accounts of the work, but bloodletting was never its primary intention. At its core was a singular playing technique: lips transmitting minute vibrations into glass, pressure bending pitch & the resonant pane responding like an unruly electronic mouthpiece.
